Please read all......:
NO RACES Sat. June 28..... NO RACES Sat. July 5.... off for Rodeo.
As most of you (fans and racers) know we have had issues with a rough track this year, primarily in turn 3. This has been mostly due to the extended wet conditions AND the fact the infield drain has not been working in turns 3/4 for some time now. Its just like any mudhole......continually soft in the bottom and the more you drive through it the bigger and deeper it gets! So.... TTM and the fairboard are going to attempt to directional bore a new drain tile under turns 3/4 to drain the water table down in that end of the infield/racetrack to alleviate the continued wet/soft conditions. Then, providing Mother Nature will cooperate, we will be able to work turn three to allow it to dry and re-grade the track and infield to allow the proper drainage. Currently the only infield drain is in turn 2 where the track has been holding up well, despite all the rain. This work will obviously take some time to do, as it must dry up some to get equipment in place and the forecast does not look good to cooperate with dirt work or racing for this week. So, we will stop, and take this extra time needed to get the track back to the condition we are ALL looking for. The next race is scheduled for July 12....then on to the Fair the next week and our remaining schedule as planned........
All remaining shows will now be DRAW / REDRAW..... all will be for track points... 4 cyls, will be added to Sprint Invaders Show on Friday Aug. 15th.
The facebook page has been shut down, and may not be used again. A lot of people involved with this operation are sick of the drama, bashing, lies, and personal attacks that facebook seems to breed, not only towards us, but others. Our kids, and your kids don't need to be subjected to this. This world has got along fine for a long time without social media.....and I'm confident social media will survive with a few less involved.....

NEW BANQUET DATE!
2014 Race Banquet and 2015 Kick-off Party moved from Jan to Nov.....
with so many other events occuring at the same time as our date in Jan. the last two years we hope the change will allow more racers and families to attend. We have been able to secure an open date on November 15,2014. The banquet will again be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Ottumwa, IA
Next Race: Davis Co. Hospital - EMS Week this Sat. May 24th.
EMS admitted FREE to the grandstands (with proper ID)
running Stock Cars, Sport Compacts, Sport Mods, Hobby Stocks..
Plus the J&J Ag Modifieds will make their first appearance!!
**We will NOT be racing on Memorial Day Monday 5/26.
I have decided to cancel this race for several reasons:
1) We will be the last race in the area of a possible 6
nights in a row from Wed. to Mon. With attrition, as
well as, time and money being tight for everyone its likely
there may not be cars OR fans available to make this
show successful. There are also other good paying
specials around the state on Monday that will limit the
available cars to travel. We noted several of the same
issues when we ran on Memorial Day in 2012.
2) Several of our weekly drivers/families and our own
crew members have family plans for the extended weekend.
My family as well have REALLY expressed a need for a
day or two off!!
3) We now have the track hard and smooth, but still have
work to do. With the current track condition I feel we
will not have enough time from Sat. night to Mon. to
properly work the track and still have time to water on
Sun. and Mon. to assure we alleviate the dust condition.
**Additions to the schedule:
Hobby stocks have been added to the Sprint Invader Shows
in June and August.
On Saturday June 7th National Guard - Diet Mtn Dew Night
we are lucky enough to have the Dale Jr. Show car on display AND
have added the National Guard mobile ZIPLINE!! Yes, you will be able to
take a ZIPLINE ride courtesy of Mtn. Dew Bloomfield Speedway,
National Guard, and Diet Mtn. Dew.
This Saturday, May 17th, is our annual Hawkeye Trader Armed Forces Night.....We respect and appreciate the service of our Military men and woman and offer them free Grandstand admission (with proper ID) this Sat....Also, proceeds from our 50/50 drawing will go to the Hawkeye trader Lend-A-Wing program that offers a helping hand to our deployed soldiers and their families. Come enjoy an evening out with your family with great food, great people and great racing.....Hot laps at 6:30 this Sat. at the Mtn. Dew Bloomfield Speedway. Next Race this Sat. May 10 Mtn. Dew Mothers Day Weekend....

We will take advantage of the warmer weather this weekend to allow the track and grounds to dry up so we may continue to work the track next week. Some pics from tonight, Friday, will be posted on facebook page (Race Dirt Bloomfield) for some reason they will not download to this site.
Next race Mtn. Dew Mothers Day May 10.

By: Tony Paris
(BLOOMFIELD, IOWA )(April 19, 2014) – Mountain-Dew Bloomfield Speedway seen 59 entries checked in for four exciting classes sponsored by Mountain-Dew Kick-Start. The featured class was the Mike’s Tire & Alignment Sport Mods racing for $500 to win.
In the Kirkland Auto Hobby stock division an exciting battle between Dane Blozovick of Exline and Nick Ulin of Agency going wheel-to-wheel for ten laps with Blozovich scoring his first at Bloomfield but second of the season. Ulin who once again came close but settled for another runner-up spot. Jason See of Albia took home third and Ben Grove of Eldon raced his way from twelfth starting spot to finish in fourth.
The Kollison Korner Sport Compacts would see two drivers battle it out with Austin Becerra of Carthange, Illinois and last week’s winner Kassidy Kirkpatrick of Ottumwa battling for all fourteen laps with good close racing. Becerra made the long trip pay off for him scoring the win and fourth of the season. Kirkpatrick took second and Larry Hopkins of Ottumwa third. The hard charger of the night Trent Orwig of Blakesburg who would race his way from the fourteenth starting spot to finish fourth and pocket the extra $50.00 donated by Kirkpatrick Racing. An un-named fan also donated a cool $100 towards the sport compact purse to celebrate a sweet 16 birthday.
The Taylor Automotive Stock cars saw Mike Hughes of Oskaloosa take the win holding off several challenges and a couple cautions that closed the field up, but Hughes was too strong in the Nathan Wood backup car. The runner-up spot went to Derrick Agee of Huntsville, Mo. with Louis Lynch having a nice run to take third and veteran driver Jerry Pilcher in fourth.
The final feature was the eighteen lap sport mod main event paying $500 to win, with five different drivers leading laps in the Mike’s Tire & Alignment feature. Jared Miller of Bloomfield looked to be the class of the field leading thirteen of the eighteen before a motor problem would end his run. Brandon Dale of Gorin, Mo. looked to be a repeat winner but a left rear wheel was packed full of mud causing a very bad vibration as he went into the work area. This would turn the lead over to Ryan Fullenkamp of Bloomfield as he would hold off several challenges from Jason McDaniel of Eldon. McDaniel would lead the seventeenth lap and the two would battle side-by-side on the final lap with six inches decidinding the victory at the finish line with Fullenkamp taking the win. McDaniel in second and Jim Walker of Mystic starting twelfth and taking third. The fourth spot going to Adam Shelman of Ames.
We will double up on racing action this week as we move to Friday night April 25th with Pepsi-Memphis Bottling USMTS Modifieds racing for $2000 to win and the USRA Iron Man series on the card as well with stock cars gunning for $750 and B-Mods racing for $600. Hot laps at 6:30 pm with racing to follow….and on Saturday night April 26th XMRO Heads-Up Side-by-Side mud drags will be invading the speedway with action starting at 6:30pm for more information on all events checkout www.racedirtbloomfield.com
